District-wide Open House and Roundtable Discussions
The Brandon and Area Planning District (BAPD) includes the City of Brandon and the Rural Municipalities (R.M.) of Cornwallis and Elton.
The BAPD is currently in the process of reviewing its Development Plan. A Development Plan is a long-range plan that guides future development in a municipality or Planning District. The Plan sets out goals and objectives in a variety of areas including agricultural, residential, commercial, industrial and institutional development, parks and greenspace, transportation and municipal servicing. Specific policies in each of these areas provide direction as to how development should occur.
The Development Plan also includes a series of maps that identify the location of future land uses, transportation routes, and municipal services. The Zoning By-law is a more detailed document that includes specific rules about building heights, setbacks and density.
Since the Development Plan guides where and how future growth will occur, it is important to have a wide variety of input into its review. We would like to know your thoughts about the future growth and development of the BAPD. This information will provide valuable insight into the community and will assist in preparing a plan that reflects the shared vision of the BAPD’s residents for years to come.
